WGNRR Africa conducted a survey in Tanzania and Kenya to assess the impact of the pandemic on SRHR and economy of women and girls with disabilities in Kinondoni District, Tanzania and in Mukuru slums, Kenya. During these activities, we collected stories and documented the voices of women and girls with disabilities on how COVID-19 has affected their economic activities and their access to SRH services and information. A total of 75 women and girls with disabilities were reached through focus group discussion and online key informant interviews. The study demonstrates how COVID-19 has exacerbated the existing inequality and gender based violence towards women and girls with disabilities. The information and stories from the survey informed the development of campaign materials that are disseminated among our audiences and adapted for specific national context to celebrate this year’s disability day.
Nondo Ejano, WGNRR Africa Regional Coordinator led the distribution of SRH commodities, COVID-19 prevention kits, and #SRHRAmidCovid booklets to women and girls with disabilities in Kinondoni District in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
